Postman Exercises

Terms, refunds and privacy

Last updated 6 November 2026

Postman Exercises is run by an independent developer (a sole proprietor) based in South Africa. This page holds our terms of service, our cancellation and refund policy, and our privacy policy. By creating an account or subscribing, you agree to all three.

Questions about anything here? Use our contact form or email info@postmanexercises.com.

Terms of service

The service

Postman Exercises is a set of guided, browser-based exercises for practising API testing. The requests you build are sent to a simulated practice API that we run. They never reach real customer systems or third-party services.

The first exercise is free. The rest need a paid subscription. We may add, change or retire exercises over time.

Not affiliated with Postman

Postman Exercises is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Postman, Inc. “Postman” is a trademark of Postman, Inc., and we use the name only to describe the kind of skills the exercises teach.

Your account

  • Use a real email address that you can access. We send a link to confirm it before your account is fully active.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • One account is for one person. Please don’t share sign-in details.
  • You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live, or have a parent or guardian’s permission.

Subscriptions and payment

  • You can subscribe monthly or annually. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
  • Prices on our site are shown in US dollars as a guide. Because we are based in South Africa, Paystack charges your card a fixed amount in South African rand (ZAR), which is shown at checkout before you pay. Your bank may add a currency conversion or foreign transaction fee.
  • Payments are processed by Paystack. We never see or store your full card number.
  • If a renewal payment fails, we email you and keep your access open for 7 days so you can update your card. If payment still hasn’t gone through after that, paid access ends.
  • If we change our prices, we will email you before the new price applies to your next renewal. You can cancel before then.

Acceptable use

Please use the service to learn. You agree not to:

  • try to break, overload or get around the security or rate limits of the service or the practice API;
  • bypass the paywall, or share, copy or resell paid exercise content;
  • scrape the site or use automated tools beyond normal use of the exercises;
  • use the service for anything unlawful.

If you do, we may suspend or close your account.

Our content

The exercises, explanations, design and code of Postman Exercises belong to us. Your subscription gives you a personal, non-transferable right to use them for your own learning. It doesn’t give you the right to republish them.

Closing your account

You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing info@postmanexercises.com from the address you signed up with. Cancel any active subscription first, or ask us to do it in the same email. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

Availability and our liability

We work to keep the service running, but it is provided “as is”. It may sometimes be unavailable, and exercises may contain mistakes. The exercises are for practice; they are not a certification and don’t guarantee any job or exam result.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act or other law that cannot be excluded.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page, and we email you about significant changes before they take effect. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Cancellations and refunds

Cancel anytime

You can cancel from Account → Billing. You won’t be charged again, and you keep paid access until the end of the period you have already paid for. After that, your account returns to the free exercise. Your progress stays saved.

No refunds

Payments are non-refundable. That includes monthly and annual plans, renewals, and any unused time after you cancel. Exercise 1 is free so you can try the service before you subscribe.

When we do refund

  • If you were charged by mistake or charged twice, we refund the extra charge.
  • If we permanently shut down the service, we refund the unused part of your current paid period.
  • Where South African law gives you a right to a refund, we honour it.

Billing questions

Use our contact form or email info@postmanexercises.com from the address on your account, with the date and amount of the charge. Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank; we can usually sort it out faster.

Privacy policy

Who is responsible

The developer who runs Postman Exercises is the responsible party for your personal information under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Contact us about your information at info@postmanexercises.com.

What we collect

  • Account: your name, email address and password. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, never as plain text.
  • Sign-in: a session record with your IP address and browser details, used to keep you signed in and protect your account.
  • Learning: which exercises you have completed and your saved place in each one, which can include what you typed.
  • Billing: your plan, subscription status, billing dates and the customer and subscription references Paystack gives us, plus the payment notifications Paystack sends us. We don’t receive your card number.
  • Messages: if you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are emailed to our support inbox so we can reply. If you are signed in, your account email and plan are added so we can help faster.

If you use the exercises without an account, your progress is saved only in your own browser. When you create an account, that progress is copied to your account once.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. We don’t use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t show ads.

How we use it

  • to run your account, sign you in and save your progress;
  • to process your subscription and decide which exercises you can open;
  • to send emails about your account and subscription: email confirmation, password reset, subscription started, payment failed, subscription cancelled and access ended;
  • to answer messages you send us;
  • to keep the service secure, for example by limiting repeated sign-in attempts and contact-form messages.

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t send marketing email unless you have agreed to receive it.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of service providers to run Postman Exercises. Each one only gets what it needs for its job:

  • Cloudflare hosts the website and API.
  • Neon hosts our database.
  • Paystack processes payments.
  • Resend sends our emails, including contact-form messages to our inbox.

Some of these providers store or process data outside South Africa. We use providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to POPIA. We also share information if the law requires it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account information while your account is open. Sign-in sessions expire after 30 days without use. When you close your account, we delete your account, sessions and progress. We keep billing records for as long as tax law requires (currently five years in South Africa).

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how we use it. Email info@postmanexercises.com and we will reply within 30 days. If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Information Regulator.

Changes to this policy

We will update the date at the top of this page when this policy changes, and email you about significant changes.
